Best Bank Bonuses

The best bank bonuses this month are fewer than last, since many of the deals expired at the end of July. Still available for the month of August 2010 from EverBank is the bonus with their checking account.

The bonus from EverBank comes in the form of a great rate. For the first 3 months, a person has a FreeNet Checking account, the APY rate is at 2.25%. After that time, the APY rate is reduced to a tier system. The first year overall APY will be 1.46% for balances from $50,000 to $99,999.

For balances between $25,000 and $49,999, the first year APY is 1.43%. For balances between $10,000 and $24,999, the first year APY will be 1.09%, and for balances between $0 and $9,999, the first year APY will be 0.95%.

To qualify for this account and the bonus, the account must be opened with a minimum of $1500.There is no minimum to earn interest, but the more you keep in your account, the greater the earning power is.

The Bank of the West is trying a different approach than what most other financial institutions are doing. Instead of offering a bonus in cash or better interest rates, they are offering an iPod. By opening a personal checking account before September 3, 2010 with new funds, the account holder will receive a new iPod. The further qualifications include a direct deposit of $500 established that will be recurring each month, or pay 10 bills online or make 20 debt card transactions.

For those that qualify, the new iPod will be shipped to the recoded US address on December 15, 2010, just in time for Christmas.

Some give you great bank rates, while others give you gifts. The best bank bonuses for you are dependent on what you need and how you plan to use the new account.
