The best No Load Mutual Funds are those that do not charge investors for investing their money with them. With most No Load funds, there are also no transactions fees or service fees, no brokerage commissions, no 12b-1/non-12b-1 service fees, and no non-management expenses that are charged to the investor at the time the investment is made. In essence, there is no sales fee for making an investment.
Today, there are literally hundreds of mutual fund companies offering No Load Mutual Funds. Because of the recent recession and fears there will be a double dip, the gold and precious metals funds are the true winners so far this year.
As of June 23, 2010, the one year return of the following No Load Mutual Funds that have preformed the best are listed below.
Oppenheimer Gold & Special Minerals (OPGSX) was at 66.09%. This fund requires a minimum investment of $1000.
The Franklin Gold and Precious Metals (FGADX) was at 56.79%. This fund requires a minimum investment of $50,000 which is out of reach for most small investors.
The next one on the list in decreasing performance is USAA Precious Metals and Minerals (USAGX). It has a one year return of 56.72%. The minimum to invest is a reasonable $3000.
Evergreen Precious Metals (EKWYX) comes in 4th with a one year return of 48.62%. Just like the Franklin fund, this is out of reach for most investors, with a minimum investment required of $100,000.
The American Century Global Gold (BGEIX) is the last of the top five with a one year return of 47.84%. The minimum amount to invest is only $2500.
You cannot get any return close to this with any bank rates at the present time. Until the global recovery is really here and not just a false announcement by our government that it is, gold and precious metals are a safe investment. The best No Load Mutual Funds will be in this category for the foreseeable future.
