Best Pennsylvania Credit Unions
The Best Pennsylvania Credit Unions are hard to choose with over 200 of them operating in this state. The winner of the Peoples Paper Award for 2009 was the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. This CU has been operating since 1951. Today they have over 100,000 members with an excess of $750 million in assets. To become a member of this federal credit union you must either live, work, worship or study in the Philadelphia.
The American Heritage Federal Credit Union was founded in 1948 that was originally for the Budd Manufacturing Company. Today they have members from over 700 local companies with over 100,000 members. It was voted the Best Place to work by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2007, 2008 and 2009. This CU has also won 6 first place national awards for 16 state level awards for their community service in the past 17 years.
In the Williamsport Area there is the Horizon Federal Credit Union. This financial institution was founded in 1955 for members of the health care profession in the local area. Today they membership is expanded to serve well established business and professional organizations in the area along with anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the Williamsport, Borough of Duboistow and Lock Haven areas. With over $40 million in assets they are small enough to know you but big enough to serve you. This is their motto.
In Montgomery County there is the Superior Credit Union. This CU was founded in 1956 to serve as the financial intuition for employees of the Superior Tube Company. In 2008 the charter was changed so that anyone in the county that works, lives, worships or studies can become a member.
The bank rates from these establishments are some of the best in the nation since all the profits go back into the CU instead of being paid out to share holders like with banks. These are some of the best Pennsylvania Credit Unions because of their great rates and fantastic customer service.
