If you are looking for the best savings accounts update, you will find the current rates still not as good as they were in the past. The general trend is still down and a 2% yield is hard to find.

Sallie Mae’s High-Yield Savings Account lets you earn a competitive rate with an APY that is six times higher than the national average. There is no minimum balance, no minimum to open, and there is no monthly fee but you must have funds in your account in order to earn the 1.40% APY. They also have a 10% annual match on Upromise Earnings if you link your High-Yield Savings Account to your Upromise Account. This rate is posted June 6, 2010 and is still current and effective July 23, 2010.

EverBank’s Yield Pledge Money Market lets you earn a yield in the top 5% of competitive accounts. It has a minimum opening deposit of $1500 to earn a high yield, first-year 1.51% APY for new accounts with balances $50,000 or less. What’s more, the new account has a 3-month bonus rate of 2.25% APY offered to first time Yield Pledge Money Market Account holders. The first-year APY defines the total annual yield earned by combining the current 3-month bonus rate and 9 months of the current yield rate. This rate is posted July 23, 2010.

SmartyPig beats other traditional bank savings account easily with its 2.15% APY. Since it is a social savings vehicle, other people (like your friends and/or family members) can also contribute to your savings goal, aside from you the account owner. If you make a $25 initial deposit and set aside a pre-set amount each month, then SmartyPig actually makes a good choice to receive a higher return for your money, though there are a few more restrictions than traditional savings accounts have. SmartyPig is backed by a traditional bank, West Bank in Iowa. This rate is posted July 23, 2010.

These institutions have online banking so it will be convenient for you to visit their websites to learn more about their respective savings accounts.

For those who cannot risk putting their hard-earned money in a short-term investment with almost the same yield, the best savings accounts update may just provide some options for your money in this tough economic environment.

People looking for the best California banks, or a bank from anywhere for that matter, will have different qualifications why a particular bank in California is best for them. Some are looking for the best banking rates, while others will be looking for financial products with great programs, good customer service, or a combination of other reasons.

Californians prefer to do their banking in community banks that they consider the best. 1st Enterprise Bank in Los Angeles, Asian Pacific National Bank in San Gabriel, Balboa Thrift and Loan Association in Chula Vista, Bank of Marin in Novato, or California United Bank in Encino are examples of some of the preferred financial institutions.

While many are looking to community banks for excellent customer care, there are some who are more interested in a financial institution’s rates regardless whether it comes from a community bank, a credit union, or a large national bank.

Those looking for a very good rate on CDs in California may want to take a look at Patelco Credit Union’s current special New Member 1 Year CD which requires $1000 minimum to earn the 5.00% APY. However, it renews to the rate being offered on a regular 1 year CD at the time of maturity. This rate is posted July 16, 2010 and is still current and effective July 22, 2010. You might also want to look at competitive CD rates from the USAA Federal Savings Bank and Discover Bank.

For the best saving rates in California, you might want to check out Cardinal Bank’s Kids Club Savings with a 2.51% APY, SFGI Direct’s Direct Savings with a 1.51% APY and Clear Sky Accounts’ Clear Sky Savings with a 1.40% APY.

For the best interest checking rates, check out Danversbank’s Free Rewards Checking with 4.01% APY, Advantage Bank’s Rewards Checking with 4.00% APY and Redneck Bank’s Redneck Rewards with 4.00% APY. AmericaNet Bank and ViewPoint Bank are also worth looking at.

The respective rates are current and effective as of July 22, 2010 and most of these banks have online banking available.

The best California banks are the ones who actually fulfill your needs and requirements as a banking customer.

Today at Online Banks Blog, we’re going to have a look at one of the world’s largest banks, JP Morgan Chase – better known as Chase Bank. Most would expect a huge bank like this to have a great offering and setup, but in our review of customer feedback, banking at Chase may not be as great as we’d hoped.

Probably one of the biggest surprises we saw when looking through Chase Bank reviews online are the high number of dissatisfied customers with Chase banking. Their online banking system is, apparently, frequently down or reporting errors. One person even complained that a branch manager literally yelled out his Social Security Number across the branch floor to another teller, letting everyone in the room know his SSN.

Most complaints revolve around shoddy customer service both online and off, of course. Banking at Chase seems to involve a lot of hidden late fees, long waits for telephone help, and online banking services that disappear or don’t work at inconvenient times.

While most reviews online for any bank are usually negative (positive reviewers rarely have incentive to post anything), there are a lot more for Chase than for any other.

Other complaints come from Washington Mutual customers who’ve had their accounts moved to Chase banking with the buyout of WaMu’s assets. It appears that these customers had good experiences at WaMu and are now feeling cheated because banking at Chase is much more negative for them.

Overall, it appears that Chase banking is the one to avoid. A simple search of the Internet will show Chase Bank reviews are almost entirely negative.

Being one of the best Dallas banks does not always equate to having the best interest rates, APYs, APRs, or by being the largest financial institution by virtue of assets, holdings, or market capitalization. Some of the best banks in Dallas are favored for some other reasons. In addition to having some great policies, customers also prefer the good relationship some favored banks give as part of their service.

Live Oak State Bank is a local bank that was opened in October 2001 by a team of experienced banking professionals who had served together for fifteen years, to meet a void in the East Dallas banking community, near Downtown. They have interest-and non-interest bearing checking accounts as well as personal savings, and money market accounts. They also offer home loans, car loans, and personal LOCs among others. Though it is not so much about the bank rates, what many customers like about Live Oak State Bank is the friendly small-local-bank customer relations and the personal attention of the bank’s staff to each customer.

The same is being said about Texas State Bank which was established on August 17, 1926. The same friendly hometown service to its customers is the basis of the bank’s reputation. It has been their primary goal which fuels their commitment to being there when you need them.

As many people know, most decent rates are typically found with credit unions. The Dallas Telco Federal Credit Union has been providing caring, personal financial services for its members since 1937. They have good bank rates from their savings and checking to shares and IRAs as well as their loan rates.

Some of the other banks that may be considered best Dallas banks State Bank and Trust, and Bank of America.

The PNC Rewards Program is for customers to earn a reward for their everyday banking needs with PNC. Points are earned when you make a purchase with your PNC Visa Check Card, Business Check Card, or Points Visa Credit Card.

Earning points is so easy it is almost impossible not to earn points. With every bill you pay online with PNC’s online bill paying on their website, you earn points. Every time your employer or the government makes a direct deposit into your account, points are earned. With every time you use your PNC card to make a payment or purchase you earn more points.

To help their customer accumulate points right from the start, there are extra incentives. These include 3000 points for your first non-PIN purchase. You earn 25000 points for your first Visa credit card signature purchase. And the first time a direct deposit is made into your account, you also earn 3000 points.

3000 points are also earned the very first time a bill is paid online with the PNC Bank Online Bill Pay. There is also an additional 1000 points given to customers that decide to go green and have their monthly statement sent only by electronic means.

After this initial time, the points that can be earned are 2 points for every $1 at the gas station, grocery store, and drugstore that are non-PIN purchases on the PNC Bank Check Cards. All other non-PIN purchases are 1 point per $1.00; 4 points per $1.00 on Visa Credit Card purchases; and 5 points per $1.00 for Signature Visa Credit Card purchases.

There are also 25 points every time you pay a bill online and make a PIN purchase at point-of-sale that is directly debited to your checking account.

There are so many ways to earn points with the PNC Rewards Program it is hard to believe. This is the bank that cares about their customers. They also have great bank rates available on loans and CDs. Go online or visit a branch office today.

The best Philadelphia Banks is subjective to what is important to the consumer. For some, the important factor is the mortgage rates or convenience, while for others it is the savings or CD rates. The best overall financial institution will have competitive rates in every category, with excellent customer service.

From comments of people that actually do banking in Philadelphia, there is a mixture of what is considered the best bank. Convenience and service is at the top of most people’s lists. Wachovia Bank has what appear to be the most ATM machines in the best places where customers can use them. This bank is good for use in the city, but outside the city, the ATMs are scarce and they do not reimburse the fees charges when a customer uses another company’s ATM machine. The customer services, along with the operational hours, are suspect but the online service from the website is excellent.

TD is the new name for Commerce Bank. There are many branch locations and operational hours are convenient for their customers, some of which are open 7 days a week. All but one branch is reported to have great customer service, and this financial institution reimburses customers when an ATM charges a fee. The website is difficult to use at times, but no place is perfect.

PNC is also reported to have many ATMs dispersed across the metro area. There are decent packages with a few of their checking accounts that do not charge fees. The website is the best in the Philadelphia metro area, but some customers have reported problems with PNC losing checks.

Bank of America is another one that has an outstanding website that is user-friendly. Their products are not as good as CitiBank or HSBC, though.

The best reported bank rates are from the numerous credit unions in the area. The typical drawback with them is the availability of ATMs.

This is the best advice from residents about their view of the best Philadelphia Banks. If you have an opinion, please leave a comment below.

The Best Pennsylvania Credit Unions are hard to choose with over 200 of them operating in this state. The winner of the Peoples Paper Award for 2009 was the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. This CU has been operating since 1951. Today they have over 100,000 members with an excess of $750 million in assets. To become a member of this federal credit union you must either live, work, worship or study in the Philadelphia.

The American Heritage Federal Credit Union was founded in 1948 that was originally for the Budd Manufacturing Company. Today they have members from over 700 local companies with over 100,000 members. It was voted the Best Place to work by the Philadelphia Business Journal in 2007, 2008 and 2009. This CU has also won 6 first place national awards for 16 state level awards for their community service in the past 17 years.

In the Williamsport Area there is the Horizon Federal Credit Union. This financial institution was founded in 1955 for members of the health care profession in the local area. Today they membership is expanded to serve well established business and professional organizations in the area along with anyone who lives, works, worships or attends school in the Williamsport, Borough of Duboistow and Lock Haven areas. With over $40 million in assets they are small enough to know you but big enough to serve you. This is their motto.

In Montgomery County there is the Superior Credit Union. This CU was founded in 1956 to serve as the financial intuition for employees of the Superior Tube Company. In 2008 the charter was changed so that anyone in the county that works, lives, worships or studies can become a member.

The bank rates from these establishments are some of the best in the nation since all the profits go back into the CU instead of being paid out to share holders like with banks. These are some of the best Pennsylvania Credit Unions because of their great rates and fantastic customer service.

The Best Banks 2010 list is pretty similar anywhere you look. A few of the factors that influenced the rankings are average equity, net interest margin and leveraged ratio.

The top ranking across the nation is Honolulu’s Bank of Hawaii. This might appear to be a boring choice, but boring in these times is good. You never hear any problems with this bank involved and they have net assets of $12.2 billion. This bank did not follow the trend in the real estate lending practices the lead to the recession. Because of this they did not need any of the federal bailout money

UMB financial of Kansas City Missouri is considered the second best bank in the nation. They had the same approach on real estate loans as did the Bank of Hawaii. This was the conservative approach. They hold $10.2 billion in assets and by holding the conservative approach is still a very profitable bank. Instead of expanding and merging like most financial institutions of the time have, this bank concentrated their efforts on their region. Much like many community banks did years ago. Because of their sound approach they did not need any tax payer bailout money from the federal government either.

Another bank from Kansas City Missouri made it to number three with Commerce Bank filling the slot. Again they had a very low rate of nonperforming loans on the real estate side of financing. They had a solid $18 billion in assets that helped them weather the financial storm the hit the nation.

Prosperity Bank out of Houston Texas made most lists at number four. They have a saying at this bank, “an ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure”. Sound familiar? Because they too did not jump on the risky loan ventures like so many other banks, they never need the federal bailout either.

If you need solid bank rates, look at the Best Banks 2010 and what they have to offer. They have solid business plans and will be around for years to come.

The best bank rates April 2010 are as follows.
The best savings account rate by far is offered from the Chevron Federal Credit Union. Their account called MySavings is at an incredible 6.770% interest and 7.00% APY. This is only for balances up to and including $1000, but what a rate. Any balance over $1000 and the rate reverts back to their standard rate of 0.700% interest and 0.70% APY. This interest is compounded daily and credited to the accounts on a monthly basis. These rates were posted on March 31, 2010 and were still current as of April 7, 2010, but are subject to change without notice.
For the best money market account, the best available rate is from Geddes Federal Savings and Loan Association. They have a MMDA which pays 1.99% interest and an APY of 2.00% for deposits of $50,000 or more. For account balances between $25 and $50,000, the interest rate is 1.00% along with the APY. This account is only available for New York State residents that live within 150 miles of the bank located in Syracuse, NY. These were current as of April 7, 2010 but again are subject to change without notice.
For the best bank rates for a checking account in the nation, turn to Carthage Savings and Loan Association. Their Highest Interest Checking account for balances between $2,500 and $25,000 receives an interest rate of 2.00% with an APY of 2.05%. This rate posted on January 20, 2010 and still current as of April 7, 2010, is subject to change without notice. This is a free checking account without fees as long as the balance stays above the minimum $2,500.
These are the best bank rates April 2010 has to offer across the nation.
