The rumors are flying that Chevy Chase Online Banking might be considering a sale to Citibank Online Banking. These rumors are are being reported on by the Wall Street Journal and The Business Journal.
Chevy Chase Bank is one of these regional banks who have been the target of acquisition by larger banks like Citibank. Like many banks, Chevy Chase Online Banking is facing trouble because of the housing market declines. As the real estate market worsens, more of the Chevy Chase Bank loans will fall into default.
Chevy Chase Bank is headquarted in Washington, D.C. with over 285 Chevy Chase branch locations in the mid-Atlantic region.
We will have to wait and see if Chevy Chase online banking is really sold to Citibank, but there seems to be evidence that Citigroup, Inc. is seriously evaluating Chevy Chase Bank.
