Based in Marlborough, Massachusetts Digital Federal Credit Union (DCU) is a financial institution that has over 370,000 members. According to Callahan & Associates, a credit union consulting group, it is one of the fastest growing large credit unions in America since 1995. It has 19 full-service branches in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Georgia, and Colorado but it has members in all 50 U.S. states.
There are several ways to qualify for membership in DCU. By federal regulation if you are a spouse, domestic partner, child, sibling, parent, grandparent, or grandchild of a member, you are eligible to join. You are also eligible to join if you or a non-member family relationship currently works for or retired from a company that is included in DCU’s list of participating employers. If you are the spouse of someone who died while they worked for or were retired from a company or organization in DCU’s list of participating employers, you are also eligible. If you belong to or you have a family relationship to a non-member who belongs to an organization in DCU’s list of participating organizations, you are eligible to join. Likewise, if you are the spouse of someone who died while they belonged to an organization included in DCU’s list of participating organizations, then you are also eligible. If you reside, work, worship, attend school, have any business or legal entity located in one of the communities in DCU’s list, then you can also be eligible to join. Simply complete the online membership application or the PDF format membership application if you are eligible.
The DCU Ltd Savings Account offers rates comparable to DCU’s money market account rates in exchange for reduced withdrawals. Currently, DCU Ltd Savings Account is offering 0.75% interest rate with an APY of 0.75% if your daily balance is $25,000 or more. No minimum to open the account and deposit is unlimited. You are also allowed one free withdrawal per month. However, if you need more frequent access the Money Market Account would be best for you. If you do not need regular access, you should consider the Jumbo Certificates for even higher returns. Bank rates are subject to change without prior notice.
