With the American public looking to save what they can, they need the Highest Interest Savings Account April 2010. The best one nationally is currently being offered from EverBank. For all new savings account holders there is a 3 month introductory rate of 2.25% APY. This rate is the overall yearly rate when combined with the remaining 9 months rate of 1.26% for balances under $50,000. The name of the account is the Yield Pledge Money Market account. Discovery Bank has a great rate at 1.35% APY. This too is a money market account just like EverBank. There is a minimum deposit of $500 required to obtain this rate. This rate was posted on April 6, 2010 and was still current as of April 9, 2010.
American Express also has a decent rate at 1.30% APY for its high yield savings account. This too is another money market account but there is no minimum amount required for the deposit and no fees. This rate was posted on April 8, 2010 and was still current as of April 9, 2010.
The old GMAC is now Ally Bank. They have a rate on their high yield savings account of 1.29% APY. There is no minimum deposit and no fees and was considered the best savings account by Kiplinger’s Personal Finance in December of 2009. Best of all your interest is compounded daily. But like all high yield savings account, it is a money market account in disguise. This rate was posted on April 8, 2010 and was still current as of April 9, 2010.
