SmartyPig Savings Account Rates 2.15%
Effective May 19, 2010, the SmartyPig Savings Account Rates 2.15% is available to those depositors that have between $0 and $50,000 on deposit with them. This was announces on April 18, 2010 in Des Moines, Iowa.
SmartyPig is an online financial site that offers its clients a smart, safe and simple way to handle their money and cash flow. The CEO of SmartyPig, Bob Weinschenk, was quoted saying “With credit card issuers expected to raise interest rates to 16 or 17 percent by the fall, we believe it is important now, more than ever, that consumers adopt responsible financial habits,” He further went on to say “Which is why we firmly believe in rewarding customers who want to save and spend smartly, and give them the opportunity to get ahead again and stay there.”
This change in interest rate will not only be effective for new accounts but also existing ones. This is not an introductory special rate. The interest is accrued daily and posted quarterly in the accounts.
All funds with this financial institution are held by the brick and mortar bank of West Bank. This is a subsidiary of West Bancorporation Inc. all funds are insured by the FDIC and are subject to its limitations.
These new bank rates will earn an interest rate of 2.133% and an APY of 2.15% for balances from $0 to $50,000. For balances above $50,000 the interest rate will be 0.499% with an APY of 0.50%.
