The Charter bank on the I 85 corridor between Auburn Alabama and LaGrange Georgia have a REWARDS checking account. For deposits of $0.00 to $25,000 the interest rate is 4.89851% with an APY of 5.010%. The interest is compounded monthly and the minimum deposit to open an account is $50.00. This rate was posted on April 20, 2010 and was still current as of April 21, 2010.

Southern Bank from southeastern Missouri has a checking account named Kasasa Cash.  An APY of 5.01% can be earned if you make at least 12 check card purchases and have at least one direct deposit done automatically each month. You must also have your statements delivered via the online process of eStatement. This is good for balances of $0.00 to $25,000. This rate was posted on May 15, 2009 and was still current as of April 21, 2010. The minimum deposit is $100.00.

From America Credit Union out of Fort Lewis Washington comes an interest rate of 4.89% and an APY of 5.00% on their Perk Checking account. It only takes $1 to open this account. Unfortunately this is only good for the first $1000 in the account. This rate was posted on March 31, 2010 and was still current as of April 21, 2010.

The Kansa State Bank has a Free Rewards checking account with an APY on balances up to and including $25,000. There is a minimum of $100 to open this account. To earn this APY you must have 10 debit card transactions, one direct deposit, be signed up for eStatements and log into online banking once a cycle. This rate was posted on January 6, 2010 and was still current on April 21, 2010.

Focus Bank from southeastern Missouri and northeastern Arkansas has a MAXimum Free Checking account. This has an APY of 4.51% with balances up to $25,000. The minimum deposit is $100.00 to open. To qualify you must have 10 debit card transactions and sign up for eStatements online. This rate was posted on September 14, 2009 and was still current as of April 21, 2010.
