United Federal Credit Union Checking Account

The United Federal Credit Union Checking Account will be offering an APY of 3.65% beginning on January 1, 2010. This is from a financial establishment that was founded in 1949 as a credit union for the workers of the Whirlpool Corporation.  Since this early time, the membership eligibility has expanded to include over 800 corporate members covering many different states. The current membership is over 100,000 with assets of over $1.2 billion.

The official name of this account is the Interest Plus Checking. An advantage an account holder receives is that there is no minimum balance and the free use of ATMs nationwide. To qualify for this account, there are several requirements. One of them is the enrollment in eStatement which is the electronic delivery of the monthly statement in which no paper statement is issued. There must be a minimum of one direct deposit within each statement cycle. There must also be a minimum of 10 debit card transactions or purchases where a signature is required without the use of a PIN number. Debit purchases that involve a PIN number do not count.

Features of this account are a high bonus rate on all balances up and including $25,000. All balances over $25,000 earn 0.25% APY. If for any reason the account does not qualify by not complying with the requirements, then the APY on all balances is 0.10%. Up to $25 of fees that are associated with the use of ATMs from other financial institutions are refundable each and every month that are charged to the account holder. Online banking is possible with the United Federal Credit Union Checking Account.
